Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)
Delayed onset muscle soreness occurs when a stressor, presumably exercise or activity, places an unaccustomed load on muscles which cause microscopic or tiny tears in the stressed muscle's fibers. DOMS usually starts anywhere between 12-24 hours after exercise or activity and may show discomfort for up to 72 hours.
